This is an analysis of the guild bronze statue of Avalokitesvara, one of the highly artistic artifacts in the National museum of Colombo. Author points out a new idea of the period it belonged to, such as 5th or early 6th century. Previously established ideas by many scholars mention that it belonged to 7th to 9th centuries. In the discussion of the style of sculpture, the author compared it with Sigiriya painting school. Furthermore, the author established an idea that it belonged to the lost sculpture tradition of Sigiriya. Discussions are documented on rock sculpture 'Man with the horse' at Isurumuniya as Valahassa Jataka. The story of the Navigator merchant Simhala was the previous birth of Gautama Buddha, the horse Balaha as Avalokitesvara. Also proposed the idea that ‘Kudiramalai’ (horse mountain) as a site of Avalokitesvara or a famous venerating site of seamen.
